Efectos del funcionamiento del nuevo Campus Balzay sobre la movilidad dentro y en los alrededores del Campus
Abstract:
The University of Cuenca has planned the construction of the new Balzay Campus for the year 2018. The operation of the new Campus will attract trips that, when interacting with existing traffic, can generate conflicts. The travel rate attracted by the new Campus is estimated through surveys of the students from the Architecture, Engineering and Chemistry faculties and gauging in the infrastructure in which these faculties currently operate. Two intersections are studied for which it is estimated that the flows that will be attracted by the operation of the New Campus will pass. Av. Ordoñez Lasso and Av. De los Cerezos traffic ligth intersection was analyzed with the methodology of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM2010), obtaining a current F level of service, an alternative mitigation of the effect is proposed, which consists in expanding the lanes and improving horizontal signaling, which gives a service level D. General Escandón and Francisco Cisneros traffic ligth intersection, analyzed in a similar way presents a current service D level, an alternative mitigation of the effect is proposed, which consists of preventing the left turn of the West access, which gives a service level D with a lower delay. The existence of conflicts has been confirmed on Calle Víctor Albornoz, when making the left turn to enter the new Campus. With the construction of a deceleration lane for the right turn and the installation of traffic lights, congestion was reduced in the campus access system, and the effect on Calle Víctor Albornoz was mitigated.
