Effect of detailed power system models in traditional and voltage-stability-constrained optimal power-flow problems

Abstract:

Effect of detailed power system models in traditional and voltage-stability-constrained optimal power-flow problems was discussed. A detailed generator model was used to study optimal-power-flow (OPF) and voltage-stability-constrained optimal-power-flow (VSC-OPF). Results showed that addition of a static volt-ampere-reactive (VAR) compensator (SVC) to the system results in lower operating costs especially at higher loading levels.
