Agricultural Information Management: A Case Study in Corn Crops in Ecuador


Abstract:

This document, proposes the development of a multiplatform application called Platano-Maiz deployed on a Umbler server, this application allows farmers community, through the Internet to: monitor, administer and manage information of climate and soil variables that influence the growth of corn crop, which is located in Guapán, Cañar - Ecuador. The main objective of developing this application is to provide farmers with a secure tool to support them in making optimal and timely decisions based on the information graphically presented using statistical graphs. In addition, through the application, farmers can monitor the entire growth process of their crop, improve production, optimize resources (water, fertilizers, time, money, among others) and allow them to view and receive notifications via email. The web application is developed with free software tools and libraries, allowing the community of developers to extend its development (data analysis, data pbkp_rediction, etc.), the graphical interface is user-friendly and intuitive for any user and the monitored data are completely open and accessible.
