Effects of Steam Stimulation on the Quality of an F. P. O. Extraheavy Crude Oil.

Abstract:

In this paper, the results of aquathermolytic stimulation tests on the quality of extra-heavy crude are presented. The data on the behavior of crude oil viscosity as a function of stimulation test time is emphasized. In addition, a study of the characteristics of asphaltenes, in terms of their molecular weight distribution, is included in order to explain the viscosity changes due to stimulation. The experiments were performed on samples of crude petroleum from the Corro Negro area of the oil field Faja Petrolifera del Orinoco (F. P. O. ) in Venezuela.
