Abstract:

Introduction: The physical activity level is a health pbkp_redictor in population, its management depends on numerous variables integrally related. Objective: to effects assess of a comprehensive physical activity program adapted to administrative and teaching staff of the Facultad de Salud Pública de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH). Methods: The research is descriptive, quasi-experimental and correlational, selected a representative sample of the teaching and administrative staff in the faculty mentioned, concerning 76 subjects between 26-67 years (∼43 years). An initial and final diagnosis was made based on Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), fulfilling the ethical requirements. Results: the integral physical activity program included 8 actions. After demonstrating a low level of initial physical activity, it was evident that both sexes did not present significant differences in their physical activity level, both in pretest (P2: p = 0.087, P3: p = 0.074, P5: p = 0.307; P6: p = 0.187; P8: p = 0.389; P9: p = 0.887; P11: p = 0.120; P12: p = 0.073; P14: p = 0.885; P15: p = 0.876; P16: p = 0.169) as in posttest (P8: p = 0.358, P9: p = 0.894, P11: p = 0.906, P12: p = 0.148, P14: p = 0.055, P15: p = 0.650, P16: p = 0.581), although in general the average ranges were worse in women. However, significant improvements were shown in various physical indicators as part of posttest, emphasizing the variables P8-P16. Conclusions: there is a positive effect when proposal applying, significantly increasing various variables related to physical activity level, both individually and collectively.
