Agronomic characterization and quality of the grass Setaria splendida to four harvesting ages

Abstract:

The Amazon region bill with a wide potential for the agricultural production, for their high rainy. The present investigation was carried out it with the objectives of evaluating agronomic indicators of the grass Setaria splendida, as well as its quality to different harvesting ages. The work was developed in the Amazon University of the Ecuador. The productive characteristics and quality were evaluated. Sixteen experimental parcels were used, distributed at random by means of the employment of a design in blocks. The treatments were the four states of maturity of the plant. They were measured the variable height, long of the leaf, of the shaft and the diameter of this last one, as well as the yield. The chemical indicators were dry (DM) and organic matter (OM), as well as their digestibility, the ash, gross protein, neuter and sour fiber detergent, and the hemicelluloses. It was observed that the plant height and longitude of shafts, they presented differences (P <0,05). The content of DM went bigger to the last age, while the protein diminished when aging the material. It was evidenced that the digestibility of the dry and organic matter, diminished when increasing the state of maturity. It concluded that the agronomic indicators were affected with the age without a defined behavior. The quality of the plant diminished when aging the vegetative material, for the descent the digestibility and the increment of the fibrous fraction.
