Agronomic response of the lettuce crop (Lactuca sativa l.) to chistosan fromulation application
Abstract:
The objective of this study was to evaluate the response of morphoagronomic variables of lettuce plants to the application of the bioestimulant based on chitosan (Quitomax). Plants were achieved from seeds planted in trays, then at 20 days old they were transplanted to beds, in four lines separated 25 cm from each other. Treatments consisted on Quitomax foliar application at 200, 400, 600 mg.ha-1 on lettuce plants ten days after the transplant, and a control without application. An experimental fully randomized block design was utilized. Twenty samples were taken for each experimental parcel. The number of leaves, length and width of the leaves, diameter of the stem, length of the roots, as well as the crop yield, were evaluated Results showed that 600 mg.ha-1, the highest Quitomax concentration, produced significantly the biggest values on plant morphoagronomic variables and the greatest yield.
