Efficacy of cold stimulation test to diagnose tension control in stable hypertensive

Abstract:

Antecedents: There aren't methods to diagnose stable control of blood pressure in hypertensive patients. It was necessary to find new forms to optimise the diagnosis. Objective: To determine the diagnostic certainty of the Cold stimulation test for the diagnosis of arterial hypertension. Material and Methods: We conducted an explicative, experimental, prospective study in order to probe the efficacy of the Cold Pressor Test for the diagnosis of controlled hypertension. The test was applied to 1031 patients in three occasions in dependence of the results we prescribed antihypertensive treatment using in our preference Atenolol. We evaluated the correspondence of the result of the test with perioperative behaviour of the blood pressure. We calculated the most important indicators of diagnostic efficacy for a test. Results: The first test was positive in 913 patients, after therapeutic adjustment the test become negative in the majority of the patients, but persisting positive in 132 patients. The third test was negative in all of cases. The blood pressure behaviour during the perioperative period was completely normal, we have not dilations of the surgical approach. The cold pressor test showed efficacy to identify stable control of hypertension with sensibility of 0.9989, selectivity of 0.9669, positive pbkp_redictive value 0.9956 and negative pbkp_redictive value of 0.9915. Conclusion: The cold press or test showed efficacy to diagnose stable control of blood pressure in hypertensive patients under treatment spec ting surgery and reduce operative dilations for this cause.
