Efficiency and intellectual capital in communication companies in Ecuador

Abstract:

Social media companies play an important role in society and managing them in an efficient way allows them to present a better service to the community. This work seeks to determine the technical efficiency of social communication enterprises in Ecuador. On the other hand, an important variable at present is intellectual capital. In this work, the enveloping data analysis (DEA) technique is used to measure Tobit’s efficiencies and regression to determine whether intellectual capital affects the efficiency of this company. A balanced panel of 126 media companies has been used. The results show a low efficiency in this sector and that it is positively affected by human capital, structural capital, intellectual capital and by the sum of intellectual capital plus capital employed, and negatively by relational capital.
