El Comercio Informal como sustento Económico Familiar en el sector de Iñaquito
Abstract:
How many times have you seen informal traders in the corners of the streets, in parks, or on buses that approach to people and offer their products? This is called informal trade, a type of work that we see in Latin America largest cities due to lack of opportunities in the formal sector. The adverse external conditions such as not having a formal legal protection, a fixed schedule, a minimum and unstable wage and other factors make the street commerce an unprotected job for them and something uncommon to the rest of the population, who observe them every day without recognizing the true economic effects and the reasons they have for choosing the streets as their workplaces. In the case of Ecuador, specifically in the Iñaquito sector of the city of Quito where this research was conducted, we see informal trade in different forms. On one hand, there are the traders who have fixed commercial kiosks and have an operating license from the local government. On the other hand, another group of informal street traders are wandering in the streets completely unprotected and without any regulation. Both groups belong to the informal sector, one to a greater extent than the other...
