Alexithymia Related To Control, Severity And Adherence In Asthmatic Patients: Pilot Study In Ecuador
Abstract:
METHODS Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in outpatient care at Public Hospital in Ecuador. Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) was used for assessing alexithymia. Asthma control and severity of disease were assessed at indicated in GINA 2015, and adherence to treatment were assessed by Morisky Green Test. Age and sex also were included. Mean (SD) and frequencies (%) were used for descriptive statistics. Chi square was used for comparisons between groups, and multinomial logistic regression for adjusting. p< 0.05 were considered as significant for all tests. RESULTS 150 patients were enrolled, most of them were female (54%) with a mean age of 34.5 (SD 12.0). Prevalence of alexythimia was 10.7%.
