Algebraic thermodynamic analysis of energy systems

Abstract:

This paper shows how, given a thermal system characterized by a structure interrelating its subsystems, and an exergy efficiency which defines each and every one of these, an algebraic formula can be found which relates any exergy variable of the system to the system's input fuels, the efficiency of the subsystems and the exergy bifurcation relations. The implications of the article are of great importance because it shows an algebraic method, handling symbolic mathematical computer packages, for analysing and evaluating the effects of subsystems and their connections upon: Overall system behavior and interactions between subsystems. This is in fact a new vision of Engineering Thermodynamics of Energy Systems, which is based on their <FP> structure.
