Algorithms, the new journalists. Study on the robotization of news writing and automation of newsmaking
Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to occupy a field traditionally dominated by the human factor in the management of informational relations between organizations, the media and society, in the application of data mining to generate algorithms that make possible to automate the management and derive it to the work of bots in the elaboration of news. The journalistic profession is going through convulsive moments apparently oblivious to the robotization of the writing and the informative production based on Algorithms or Generators of Natural Language, that is to say, programs of transformation of computational data structured in human language understandable by the audience. This article reflects the perception of journalists about the possibility of their activity becoming robotized. It analyzes a survey of 366 Spanish professionals on the impact of Artificial Intelligence in the profession.
