Abstract:
The concept of film tourism has gained increasing significance among practitioners and academics in the tourism industry. Although numerous studies have analysed the impact of film in destination images, researchers have excluded animated film, despite their similarities. The reasons why some films influence tourists’ perceptions and expectations of a destination, and are also used by tourism practitioners to leverage their chosen destinations in the competitive tourism market, depend primarily on factors such as emotional engagement, and genre and production values, as well as secondary considerations such as high market penetration, accessibility and increasing consumption.
