El personaje femenino y la ciudad nocturna en la novela ‘Yo era una chica moderna’ de César Aira

Abstract:

By the 1970s, feminist reflections focused on the position of women toward men. Thanks to the develop of categories like 'sex' and 'gender' various studies show that hierarchy between men and women is not a natural, but a social, and cultural construction. In addition, the normalization of entities and actions evidence the power they can perform over the bodies of several individuals. This fact, like many others, have been reflected in Literature and therefore, the general objective of this research is to analyze the construction of the female character and the night city in the novel ‘Yo era una chica moderna’ of the Argentinian writer Caesar Aira. This analysis was done using the tools provided by literary theories in order to establish the situation of the female character in contemporary Latin American fiction.
