( Gravimetric anomalies and crustal structure in the new Caledonia area: the roots of the peridotites).

Abstract:

Studies of the E border of New Caledonia and the deep structure of the Loyalty Basin establish the continuity between the terrestrial peridotites and the deep structure of the basin. The New Caledonian peridotites represent the lowest zone of an ophiolitic complex from which the upper basalts and gabbros have been eroded. The obduction of the peridotites occurred in the Upper Eocene.-A.Scarth
