Abstract:

The profiles drawn up demonstrate that the deep structure of the Loyalty Basin is oceanic in character which has undergone tectonic deformation during the emplacement of the ultrabasic rocks over New Caledonia. The Basin was then covered by a thick sedimentary layer derived from the emerged terrains.-A.Scarth
