Electric generation from hydraulic fluctuations using piezoelectric ceramics
Abstract:
In recent years, the population and industry growth has generated an increase in the demand for electrical energy; therefore, the development of new sources of energy harvesting is essential. Piezoelectric generators are an efficient alternative for using mechanical energy produced in the environment and by various human activities. Within the processes of generating kinetic energy that can be transformed into electrical power through piezoelectric generators are the hydraulic fluctuations of both piping systems and natural bodies of water. In the present work, we present four piezoelectric generation models placed in a closed system of drinking water distribution pipes, with an average flow rate of 29 l/s, obtaining an average voltage of 12.52 V in generator one; 11.63V in generator two; 8.98V in generator three and 14.01V in generator four. For the construction of the piezoelectric generators, the aspects of conversion, rectification, filtration, and storage of the energy produced were considered.
