Electronic family health record for use in primary health care applied in mangrove community: "cerrito de los morrenos"

Abstract:

This project was designed to work in 12 ancestral communities of the central inner estuary of the Gulf of Guayaquil. The objectives was to develop an Electronic Family Health Record for use in Primary Health Care considering the clinical record format of the Ecuatorian Ministry of Public Health. The project developed both manual and computerized instrument to collect the orderly, systematic and problem-oriented individual and collective health information. This information can be managed by primary care programs in real time, for both health promotion and disease prevention. System was implemented in the communities of Cerrito de los Morrenos and Puerto Libertad and is ready to be connected with the Public Health Department at University of Guayaquil. The software is available on the web, for the national scientific community and especially for health agencies and the University of Guayaquil.
