Electrophoretic starch gel micromethod for the study of single isolated microarthropods

Abstract:

The authors describe a new very sensitive plate electrophoretic method that allows to perform the zymogram of non-specific esterases from a single specimen of Dermatophagoides farinae Hughes, 1961, a mite involved in the production of house-dust mite asthma. Using this method, they were able to study the genetic mechanism of the individual variations in the esterase isoenzymes of this species.
