Embedded system for mobility of blind people
Abstract:
Blindness affects people, all over the world, in their possibilities of movement and orientation, making them dependent on external aids such as the cane, among others. For years, different electronic devices have been developed for this purpose. In this context, this research presents an embedded system that contributes to the mobility of people with visual disabilities with different degrees of disability, protecting physical integrity through the early detection of obstacles. For the development of the system, an experimental design and top-down methodology was used, composed of four phases: (i) design of the garment, (ii) electronic design, (iii) software, (iv) tests. The results proved the effectiveness of the proposed system in the early detection of obstacles, located at a height between 0.50 m and 1.65 m; the speed and time used in the detection of obstacles proved to be adequate to mobility and orientation of the user.
