Emerging Journalisms: From Intuition to Prediction and the Constructive Approach

Abstract:

Journalism lives in permanent change. The advent of the Internet and communication and information technologies has driven a metamorphosis that is fueling reinvention in a network society scenario awaiting the transformations that the Internet of Things and intelligent automation will bring. Journalistic intuition has given way to a renewal of techniques that allow prediction and greater social utility through the construction of a better-informed society. This chapter analyzes the current scenario of change with a historical perspective and with special attention to the impact of technology during recent decades. The text describes the passage from a more intuitive stage to the current stage, which is more predictive and has more assets, through emerging journalisms, to provide constructive journalistic models that bring added value to citizens and serve the public interest through proposals and solutions to the issues that journalists are reporting.
