(Observations on Landsat images of alignments in the Antalya travertines: discussion of the probable relations between neotectonic activity and hydrogeology).

Abstract:

An Additive Color Viewer was used on Landsat images of 14 September 1975 for an alignment study of the Quaternary travertines of the W Antalya coastal plain. The three major alignments, NE-SW, NW-SE, N-S, seem to agree with Upper Miocene tectonic trends. The authors suggest that the present lines are not the result of neotectonic rejuvenation of these fault lines but the result of karstic drainage in the travertine area excavating along these lines of weakness below the surface. -M.A.Bass
