EntreCompOnto: An Ontology for Semantic Representation of Entrepreneurship Competences

Abstract:

The development of citizens' and organizations' entrepreneurial capacity is a key policy objective of any country. The information required for monitoring development of curricula and learning activities fostering entrepreneurship as a competence is obtained from different data sources in different information systems. The semantic interoperability between these systems with resources relevant to the development of entrepreneurship stimulates more productive sharing of information among all stakeholders. Building semantic interoperable systems, ensuring in this way a collaborative performance, is not without difficulties. This paper presents EntreCompOnto, an ontology based on the EntreComp framework that could support European citizens and organizations in attaining entrepreneurship competence. EntreCompOnto sets the ground for identifying the knowledge, skills and attitudes that comprise 'entrepreneurial mindset', the ultimate aim being to facilitate exchange among users of EntreComp's adaptation families and eventually to positively impact the mobility, employability and participation of citizens in society and the economy.
