Entrepreneurships of people with disabilities in the framework of sustainable management of the canton Pedernales-Ecuador
Abstract:
Developing ventures is a task that requires high commitment and high resilience to avoid the innumerable inconveniences that occur at the beginning of any company; if, in addition, the lack of support and social inclusion for people with disabilities is added, it becomes more complex. The objective is to describe experiences in enterprises of people with disabilities in the framework of the development of sustainable business management in Ecuador, particularly of the Simón Palacios Foundation in the city of Pedernales. It is a descriptive research, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, mixed design, which combines qualitative and quantitative methods and techniques. In addition to observation, a survey was conducted to collect data using a questionnaire as an instrument applied to an intentional sample of 13 entrepreneurs with disabilities, members of the Foundation. The results show that people with disabilities belonging to the Foundation were affected in their personal and professional development, as a consequence, among others, of the situation caused by COVID-19. It is concluded that it is necessary to apply mechanisms to strengthen their activities, propose new strategies or new trades; in addition, to train these people, in a context where there is no accompaniment and constant evaluation of the parameters that involve entrepreneurship.
