Environmental Management and ICT for Sustainable Development in Universities


Abstract:

The present research aims to establish the importance of applying education for sustainable development, through the incorporation of a transversal subject in third-level training with the support of ICT, which will allow all students to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to promote responsible management of the environment. An exploratory-descriptive study was applied to diagnose the current situation of the University and its socioenvironmental responsibility, it has a mixed approach by combining qualitative methods based on of environmental management as an instrument to promote sustainable university and quantitative development by relying on data from surveys carried out on 300 students of the Business Administration career as part of the hetero-evaluation, which allowed the analysis of the data. The results showed that 96 , 66% consider active methods excellent of teaching-learning of the Environmental Management subject, 98.33% state that the activities and resources used in the Virtual Learning Environment are excellent and 97% stated that there is articulation of the theoretical contents and their practical and professional application, which confirms the importance of promoting sustainability associated with environmental management activities in Universities.
