Epidemiological surveillance assisted by Geographic Information Systems
Abstract:
Zoonoses and zooantroposis can be highly prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions of the planet, affecting and deteriorating the quality of life in populations of large areas in the Americas. The purpose of this paper was to present various experiences in the use of Geographic Information Systems as a technology that allows us to manage spatial data and perform complex analyzes following the criteria imposed by the scientific team to support decision making, allowing the sharing of information. It was concluded that the incorporation of this tool in routine control programs can lead to a greater and more effective targeting of the areas of risk and intervention and, therefore, cost-effective control and prevention actions that will lead to well-being Of the inhabitants of the endemic areas.
