Estado nutricional de adolescentes consumidores de heroína en CIATOX-Guayaquil, protocolo de intervención nutricional

Abstract:

Currently, illegal drug use starts at an early age and in both sexes, being the highest rate among adolescents because they are in a stage of high vulnerability, affecting their nutritional status, which in some cases is previously deficient; Risk factors such as dysfunctional families, poverty, abandonment, school dropout, increase in juvenile delinquency, and risk to life due to biological conditions as well as social violence. Globally, opiates are considered as one of the most problematic illicit drugs and cause health damage including nutritional status. A study was carried out at the Information and Advisory Center for Toxicology (CIATOX) -Guayaquil in 50 drug-using adolescents, among whom heroin, derived from different schools, stood out. The objective was to design a nutritional intervention protocol in adolescents who consume heroin, who go to the Guayaquil Center for Information and Toxicological Advice, to improve their nutritional status and contribute to their integral recovery. The study had a quantitative approach, observational, non-experimental, analytical and correlational methodology. The results indicated that there is no statistical evidence to show a relationship between malnutrition and drug use in adolescents, but it is striking the high rate of delay in the staining of chronic malnutrition in this group of patients, well above the rate of delay In size in adolescents in general, so it is recommended to extend the study that includes consumers in a state of neglect on the streets
