Estimating health economics impact of cycling in cuenca-ecuador

Abstract:

This work presents the application of the Health Economic Assessment Tool (HEAT), as a method to assess the economic impact of active mobility, namely cycling in an intermediate city in Ecuador. The results of this study suggest that there are economic benefits of cycling, even from short distances, smaller than 5 kilometers. This article provides an estimate on how much the government earns for every dollar invested in cycling infrastructure, as well as how much it is possible to save if more interventions occurs.
