Estructura demográfica del Ecuador en el Siglo XXI, a partir de las corrientes intramigratorias y migratorias desde mediados del siglo XX
Abstract:
The central objective of this research is to present information on how the Ecuadorian population has changed in terms of volume and demographic structure from intra-migratory and migratory flows. The demographic structure of Ecuador has been influenced by a series of historical, social and economic factors. For much of the 20th century, the country was dominated by a white and mixed-race elite that controlled political and economic power. However, this changed in the 1960s with the advent of a series of social and political movements that sought equality and justice for marginalized groups. It is important to understand that the evolution of the population structure affects the demand for fundamental public policies to face the effects of its demographic dynamics in the future. This research has a qualitative approach. The current demographic structure of Ecuador presents a challenge for its economic development, since the aging of the population can negatively affect the country's productive capacity and increase the costs of social security systems. On the other hand, increasing life expectancy and reducing infant mortality can have a positive impact on the country's human capital, which could boost economic development.
