Estructure and genetic relationships of the creole pig of Ecuador

Abstract:

The genetic structure of the Ecuadorian creole pig and the analysis of the distances with other races constitute the objective of this work. It was characterized a panel of 25 microsatélites. It was calculated the matrix of the genetic distance and a phylogenetic tree was built. The results of this study showed less values of distance among the creole pig of Ecuador and the Latin American creole races, being intermediate these values with the Spanish (Iberian and Celtic). In the tree, all American races formed a unique group and the Spanish are placed closer to these. The analysis of the genetic structure showed that when it is assumed six ancestral populations (K=6), the individuals from Ecuadorform a homogeneous group. It was concluded that the Ecuadorian creole pig shares alleles with the Latin American creoles of similar origin and that Spanish races contributed to their formation.
