Estudio avifaunístico en la parroquia Poalo, cantón Latacunga, provincia Cotopaxi


Abstract:

This research aimed to identify the species of birds through technical tools that allowed for the avifauna study that concluded in the development of the bird guide the Poalo parish, in canton Latacunga. Situational diagnosis was determined that the geographical position, physical characteristics and vegetation type, are determining factors that allow the presence of several functions that become habitat of different species. It is the reason for the bird richness sector prevails over one of the important factors of biodiversity. Field visits allowed for geographical and altitudinal considerations that allowed get four standards; that was part of the zoning study area. Direct observation was part of an ongoing work which resulted in the registration and identification of a total of twenty-five species of birds; same that were inventoried and used for the manufacture of the field guide. Within the guide taxonomic classification (order, family, genus and species) is included; the marks are ordered according to the order and family of each species, also it contains information on the common name, family, scientific name, English name and description, with photographs which clearly show each species, allowing easy recognition of birds in the field.
