Abstract:
Cholelithiasis is one of the most frequent reasons for consultation in general surgery services around the world. The increase in IESS’ affiliates has caused the congestion of the IESS´ hospitals, limiting the number of available beds, for this reason the implementation of ambulatory laparoscopic cholecystectomy is proposed as a strategy to solve cases of cholelithiasis undergoing elective surgery and in this way increasing the available beds in the hospitalization areas. Objectives: To determine which surgical procedure between ambulatory laparoscopic cholecystectomy and hospitalization laparoscopic cholecystectomy is related to less development of postoperative complications. Methodology: descriptive, observational, retrospective study, developed in the general surgery service of Hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo in 2016, establishing an association between the study variables. Results: The frequency of complications observed is 1.1% in ambulatory laparoscopic cholecystectomy and 2.5% in laparoscopic cholecystectomy with hospitalization. Conclusion: In this study, there is a lower frequency of complications in patients who underwent laparoscopic ambulatory cholecystectomy compared to laparoscopic cholecystectomy with hospitalization
