Estudio comparativo de la eficiencia de sistemas de compostaje en el relleno sanitario del Inga

Abstract:

The increase of habitants in the world and the increase of waste produced by them have generated serious problems in the planet. By generating a plan with actions to face this problem will allow us to maintain the lifestyle that we carry until now. In search of improving the environment in which we live, the present research proposes a viable technique for the treatment of organic waste generated in the Metropolitan District of Quito, from the separated waste by mechanically ways in the “Separation Station” of the EMGIRS that it is located in the south of the city. By the implementation of 4 composting techniques among which the raw material used in each of them was alternated between; organic waste, worms (Eisenia foetida) and structuring material (rice husk), in order to evaluate the quality of the fertilizer generated after 3 months of experimentation based on the physical, chemical and biological analysis. During the analysis of results it was determined that the quality of the fertilizer can not be defined only by the parameters studied, because it depends on the purpose of the fertilizer, that is because the parameters required for agriculture, forestry or recreational areas are different. Without observing significant differences in the analysis of the physical parameters and basing the results only on the chemical and biological analyzes obtained; the conclusion of the research is that the treatment 3 that is composed by organic matter and worms is in an advanced decomposition, has the best balance between macro and micronutrients and promises better germination and adaptation results for future crops, so it is determined as the better composting treatment.
