Estudio comparativo de los métodos DPPH y ABTS para la determinación de la actividad antioxidante de la pulpa de maracuyá (Passiflora edulis)
Abstract:
The present bibliographic research has the purpose of comparing the DPPH and ABTS methods for the determination of the antioxidant activity of passion fruit pulp thus establishing the performance they have when capturing antioxidants which offer great benefits, treat cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diabetes mellitus, for that reason a search of scientific journals was carried out, among other databases of great impact that will allow supporting in comparative tables of the issue raised. The results showed that the DPPH method, depending on the extract, has an average maximum inhibitory concentration of 141,180 µg/ml, 130,397µg/ml, 123,689 µg/ml, 139,531 μg/ml, 0,9±0,2µmol/g, 1,02±0,4µmol/g, 0,9±0,2%, and the ABTS method presents 2,3±0,6µmol/g, 2,7±0,1µmol/g, 2,3±0,6%. It was concluded that the ABTS method has higher antioxidant activity values than the DPPH test, and has the power to capture antioxidants in less time than the DPPH. In addition, it shows a greater advantage compared to the DPPH method, because it is the one that measures the antioxidant capacity of lipophilic and hydrophilic substances and has a wide absorbance spectrum that ranges from 414 nm to 815 nm.
