An intelligent ecosystem to support psychological evaluation and intervention of children under social risk: Towards graphics design validation and new findings
Abstract:
Recent studies provided by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) claim that 275 million children are victims of violence in the world. An important percentage of these children must be separated from their families to be placed in infant protection institutions, where, it is estimated, about 8 million children live nowadays. However, in developing countries the most of these institutions do not have enough personnel, technological resources and appropriate structures to provide adequate psychological intervention services. In the same way, several institutions require informatics health systems that support the children's monitoring as well their progress. On those grounds, in this paper we present an intelligent ecosystem that relies on ICT tools and intelligent systems to provide support in several activities that are done by personnel and psychologists that work in protection institutions. The ecosystem provides functionalities to support the psychological evaluation and intervention on children, using for it mobile applications based on ludic micro and nano worlds, and games. The system was put to test with 102 children and has reached 81% of precision in the patient's evaluation stage.
