An intelligent home appliance control-based on WSN for smart buildings


Abstract:

With the improvement in standard of living of human beings, better home/office environment is required. Nowadays, intelligent home designs are becoming a trend in which intelligence can be built-in to provide improved user comfort at an incremental cost. However, many of the mature systems do not care about the energy savings. This paper presents a smart home solution with energy conservation in mind. A website is built to help user to access the system. The light intensity and the fan speed can be adjusted according to the comfort level or controlled according to the occupant's activity based needs. This is achieved by design, development and testing of intelligent home appliance control system through ZigBee according to the availability of natural daylight, occupancy, comfort and requirement of the occupants.
