Estudio comparativo in vitro del efecto antibacteriano del extracto de propóleo Ecuatoriano vs gluconato de clorhexidina contra streptococcus mutans
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was compare the antibacterial effect of Ecuadorian aqueous propolis extract versus Chlorhexidine gluconate. It was an experimental in-vitro study, which used an ATCC strain of “Streptococcus Mutans”; this starin was planted in Petri dishes with blood agar; on which filter paper discs soaked in Aqueous Extract of Ecuadorian Propolis with a concentration of 30 % were placed, other with a concentration of 50 %, Aqueous Extract of Ecuadorian Propolis and others with a 2 % concentration of Chlorhexidine gluconate. The reading of the generated inhibition halos around each disc was performed after 48 hours, in which it was Chlorhexidine gluconate proved to present higher inhibition that those dishes with Aqueous Extract of Ecuadorian Propolis with a concentration of 30 % an 50 %; not quite ruling out the antibacterial effect of the aqueous extract of propolis. The results were processed using the SPSS 22 and Stragrafics 6.0 statistical programs, along with the ANOVA analysis table
