Estudio comparativo in vivo de la eficiencia de la despigmentación melánica gingival mediante gingivoabrasión y láser de diodo en pacientes Afro Ecuatorianos

Abstract:

Gingival melanic depigmentation is en esthetic treatment that can be performed using different techniques such as gingival abrasion using a scalpel, or a high power diode laser. The goal of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of gingival melanic depigmentation on African-Ecuadorian patients who, after undergoing surgery, were able to perceive changes in the level of pain experienced, recovery, annoyances during and after surgery, and progress through time in terms of the final results. The most important data provided by this process showed that not all black Ecuadorian patients have gum pigmentations, that the darker the pigmentations the more difficult they are to remove, and that the scalpel method was superior to the diode laser method in terms of effectiveness, but the laser method allowed recovery within the first 8 days of recovery without causing any post-surgical pain. This work also concluded that surgical cement only provides protection for eating during the first few hours; after it falls, the lesion has not progressed in the recovery process
