Estudio de definición del sistema de protecciones de la Central Hidroeléctrica Saymirín y su coordinación
Abstract:
The electrical protection has an important role in the safety and proper operation of a power system. Particularly in the case of the generation and transport, their importance required an efficient system of protections that would ensure the integrity of its elements and continuity of electrical service. Therefore, the hydroelectric Saymirín with the future integration of the phase V, requires the implementation of a protections system that allow energy generated and evacuated safely and reliably .The development of the first proposition for adjustment and coordination of the functions of protection of generators, power transformer, busbar and transmission line, is the main objective of this thesis work. First, we provide an overview of project characteristics Saymirín V. Later, from a theoretical electric models generator, transformer, transmission line and information about CENTROSUR subtransmission network, establishing a suitable electrical model that allows make studies required in next chapters. The power flow studies can determine the impact on the influence’s area of the plant in the subtransmission network, with the integration of phase V and the corresponding withdrawal of Phases I and II, in differents demand sceneries and network topology . Short circuit study performed fault simulation set both inside and outside of the plant, with the purpose of determining the short circuit currents for the calibration and verification of certain settings of protection functions. Considering Elecaustro’s requirements for protection of their electrical centrals , and then carefully consider the characteristics of each of the protection functions and their applicability on the generator, auxiliary services, transformer, busbar and transmission line , and also based in standards and literature on the subject defines the protection system scheme to be implemented in Saymirín V. Using the results obtained in studies of power flow and short circuit, adjustment and coordination are made to each protection functions previously established to elements of the central, considering the characteristics of the device settings protection used. The response of the plant when subjected to fault events is analyze, using a basic study of transient stability whit a simplified model. Using the criterion of equal areas and ideal operating conditions, determine the approximate angle and time critical fault clearing. These results are needed to estimate the validity in the performance of certain functions of protection. At the end is present a global view of the result of the proposed adjustment and calibration of the protection system in the central, as well as the conclusions and recommendations that have emerged following the development of this thesis work.
