Abstract:
This research aimed to study the Puruhá Culture for the development of a graphic style and its application in textures decor and ambience of interior spaces. It began with the search for information in the museums of Cacha, Moya and Royal Palace belonging to canton Riobamba, a database was conducted with the help of photographs took at various museums and publications, yielding a total of 100 items per study, making use of observational records as instruments that helped to determine important characteristics of culture. Later it qualified outlining technical parameters as setting, abstraction, Andean geometry and symbolism; through this selection process was determined the number of 30 suitable symbols for the project, which are decomposed into sub modules that identify the Puruhá culture. These elements were subjected to a morphological analysis which establishes the design qualities having every shape and interrelationship of ways using symbols, the new graphic style was constructed. As the final part textures are generated by applying laws of composition that will create macro modules based on the symbols obtained in the graphic style and whose purpose is the setting of interior spaces. It is concluded that the creation of a cultural graphic style requires a depth analysis of that culture, to determinate not only the graphical importance of its features, but also achieve own and unique patterns that improve the design process.
