Abstract:

This work involves the development of a translucent resin panel with inclusions of wood and its derived products to achieve a finish alternative in a kitchen environment. For that purpose, an analysis of wood was carried out regarding its advantages, disadvantages, properties, applications, and its derived products, which allowed to know such material and then experiment with it. After that, experiments were made with polyester resin with inclusions of wood and its derived products to make a panel that would allow the passage of light, attaining translucent spaces with decorative elements that provide a different and attractive look to the indoor area. Delicate and fragile elements can be merged with the hardness of the resin since this is a shield that protects such decorative elements besides enhancing their beauty. Elements such as leaves and seeds- which are usually unperceived or are not taken into account at the moment of creating an environment- were also used. The evolution of the kitchen was then investigated in order to obtain a design that would fit into our lifestyle. For that purpose, general ergonomic elements are shown, as well as a correct distribution and illumination. Finally, we have the design process showing the fusion of the former chapters where a practical and innovative kitchen is presented thanks to the resin boards.
