Estudio de utilización de hipoglucemiantes en pacientes atendidos, en el Hospital Básico-Naranjal en el periodo 2017-2018

Abstract:

An investigation was conducted to evaluate the use of hypoglycemic drugs in patients seen in the Basic Naranjal Hospital in the period 2017-2018. In recent years there have been changes in the pattern of use of hypoglycemic in Ecuador. Describe this usage pattern in the period 2017-2018, it is the aim of the present work. For the study of use of these drugs a universe 113,944 patients between men and women was considered. For sampling, 103 patients were considered between 13 and 60 years of age, of this universe women were excluded in gestation, patients older than 60 years, patients younger than 13 years and patients with other diseases that are not related to diabetes. The use of oral hypoglycemic medications and insulins has increased the last two years, from 8220 in 2017 to 10,780 in 2018, highlighting the majority use of metformin as monotherapy oral hypoglycemic choice. It was identified that the main pathologies related to diabetes are urinary tract infections and essential hypertension, designed largely to the female population, although the reasons that lead to this disease, describe a picture of metabolic disorder. The study resulted in significant results, statistical analysis allowed for a pharmaceutical intervention to support prescribing and dispensing drugs effective for diabetic hypoglycemic therapy.
