Estudio epidemiológico de la prevalencia de extracciones dentales en pacientes diabéticos en la UCSG-2017.

Abstract:

Introduction: The loss teeth is a problem in national and global public health; predisposing biological stocks including sex, race, ethnicity, age, diabetes mellitus (DM) and metabolic syndrome related to the loss theeth. Objective: To determine the epidemiological risk of diabetes in clinical manifestations of dental furcation, dental mobility, caries, periapical pathologies, and oral manifestations in patients attending the surgery clinic of the UCSG by exodoncia. Materials and methods: Cohort, retrospective, observational and analytical investigation in patients between 40 and 75 years old, attending the surgery clinic of the UCSG by exodoncia. In this study observed periapical pathologies, dental furcation, dental mobility, dental caries and oral manifestations. The intervening variables are: diabetes mellitus, age and sex, diabetic, prediabetic and control groups. Results: Healthy patients, 46 (27.88%) men, 57 (43.55%) women; pre-diabetic patients 18 (10.92%) men, 23 (13.95%) women; and diabetic patients 13 (8.81%) men, 7 (4.85) women. Diabetes presented as risk of dental furcation (RR 2.68), dental mobility (RR 3.52), dental caries it obtained error in RR, periapical pathology (RR 3.22), oral manifestations (RR 14.61). In relation to prediabetics, it presents as a ri sk of dental furcation (RR 1.38), dental mobility (RR 2.72), dental caries, it obtained error in RR, periapical pathology (RR 0.066) and oral manifestations (RR 1, 61 ). The prediabetics pacients, the risk of dental furcation (RR 1.38), dental mobility (RR 2.72), dental caries (RR 0.15) and periapical pathology (RR 0.066) were considered as protection factors, and oral manifestations (RR 1.61). Conclusion: Diabetes and prediabetes are a predisposing factor for the appearance of dental furcation, dental mobility, and oral manifestations with a predominance of xerostomia in patients attending the clinic of the UCSG by dental extraction. Diabetic patients are a risk of periapical pathologies, unlike the prediabetic pacients. On the other, no significant differences were detected in caries susceptibility among healthy, prediabetic and diabetic patients. Conclusion: Diabetes and prediabetes are a predisposing factor in the appearance of dental furcation, dental mobility, and oral manifestations with a predominance of xerostomia, also periapical pathologies in the diabetic patients.
