Estudio exploratorio de las percepciones de masculinidad entre adultos emergentes de Guayaquil que hayan sido migrantes

Abstract:

The following exploratory study seeks to understand the perception of masculinity given by emerging adults from Guayaquil that have lived abroad, by being emigrants to first world countries. Through their own experiences, it seeks to analyze the changes that could exist between their way of appreciating masculinity on these two societies. Also, it seeks to analyze the way in which these experiences are related to masculinity theories, like hegemonic masculinity and new masculinities. This investigation has a qualitative approach and uses as tool interviews to two subjects of study for the data recollection. The principal technique used is the narrative and its results are presented by stories. On the results, it is manifested the influence that these experiences on other countries had on the subjects of study. They met their new masculinity referents, and they were the ones that helped them to generate a new perception of masculinity. In effect, this created a change on their ideologies, which now are not only based on hegemonic masculinity, but also on the masculinity represented by the new referents.
