Estudio farmacognóstico y fitoquímico de las hojas de dos variedades de achotillo (Nephelium lappaceum L.)

Abstract:

The research work entitled "Study pharmacognosy and phytochemicals of the leaves of two varieties of achotillo (Nephelium lappaceum L.)", aimed to identify active compounds present in the leaves of two varieties of achotillo cultivated in a farm corresponding to the canton Quevedo, provincia de Los Rios. This project began with the washing, drying and milling of the leaves; Methods of perception and organoleptic characteristics of the leaves, both bitter and sweet; Subsequently, pharmacognosy studies were conducted for which different analyses were carried out to determine moisture content, total ashes, water soluble ashes, respectively, by which it was demonstrated that it complies with the requirements of established quality. In the phytochemicals, the presence of reducing sugars, saponins and flavonoids were determined qualitatively in which there was no significant difference between the two varieties of leaves; With respect to the quantitative analysis for the two varieties of Achotillo, it is was that the bitter leaves contain more phenols and flavonoids than the sweet leaves
