Eugenio Espejo, Journal: An alternative to stimulate scientific publication in health
Abstract:
An analytical study was conducted during the period March to May 2015 in order to develop an action plan to stimulate scientific publication among teachers of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the National University of Chimborazo, as well as health professionals at a local and regional level. The population consisted of the enabling documents of the seven volumes of the Eugenio Espejo Journal published up to 2014, the rules for indexing to international scientific information systems, and 15 items pending approval by their respective authors for correspondence. After reviewing the papers submitted by health professionals in the area, weaknesses were detected in scientific writing skills. The Eugenio Espejo Journal needs to rethink its publication rules and organisation of work to meet the requirements of the bases of Scientific Information System bases such as Redaclyc Latindex, as only five criteria are met initially. The action plan was designed based on the needs diagnosed for strengthening the Journal, taking into account the development of scientific publishing in the context studied.
