Evaluación citoprotectora gástrica de extracto acuoso e hidroalcohólico de la corteza de Azadirachta indica. A. Juss en animales de experimientación
Abstract:
Gastric ulcer is an alteration of the defensive mechanisms which includes the mucosal, submucosa and muscle barrier resulting in injury to the gastric mucosa. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the cytoprotective activity of aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts from the bark of Azadirachta indica A. Juss at different doses. A model of ulcerogenic induction by intake of ethanol 90% by oral administration was used following macroscopic study in stomach of mice. Ten groups were formed with 5 animals each one. Exhaustive evaluation revealed the gastric cytoprotection of aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts at a dose of 1000 mg/kg presenting ulcerogenic inhibition rates of 77.5% and 90% respectively; at 500 mg/kg from 70% to 65% and 250 mg/kg of 15% and 55%. The best cytoprotective activity with high ulcer inhibition percentage was evidenced in the hydroalcoholic extract dose of 1000 mg/kg compared to the control groups omeprazole and ranitidine with ulcer inhibition percentage of 87.5% and 85%. These findings suggest that aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts from bark of A. indica exert cytoprotective action protecting gastric mucosa
