Evaluación de actividad normoglucemiante del extracto etanólico del rizoma Smilax purhampuy R. en ratones con diabetes tipo II

Abstract:

Diabetes is considered a health problem worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) this disease takes lives each year for around 1.5 million, this figure contributes to a socioeconomic health problem. A study is presented on the normoglycemic evaluation of the ethanolic extract of the Smilax purhampuy R. rhizome in alloxane-induced diabetic mice and at what dose a normoglycemic activity is generated. 5 groups of 4 mice were formed: A (without treatment); B (induction- no treatment); C (induction - glibenclamide); D and E treated with the ethanolic extract of the Smilax purhampuy R rhizome, doses of 1000 and 250 mg / kg. It was established that the normoglucemiante activity at the dose of the extract (E) 250mg / kg, the glucose values show statistically difference with group A, C, but with group B with a significance level of 0 , 05 that differs from the rest of the treated groups. The histopathological analysis of the pancreas was also carried out, where it generated little damage to the pancreatic beta cells, which indicates that the ethanolic extract of Smilax purhampuy R. did not develop a major alteration in these cells.
