Evaluación de la condición superficial del pavimento flexible mediante un análisis comparativo entre la metodología planteada por la normativa ecuatoriana NEVI 2012 y la metodología planteada por la normativa AASHTO
Abstract:
The different types of existing damages on a flexible pavement are the main drawback in the condition of the service level of a road. Thus, having an assessment that detects the cause which originates the damages is fundamental in order to take the most suitable corrective actions of prevention and maintenance, this is with the objective of guaranteeing an adequate functioning, comfort and safety of the ground layer during its period of life (Medina & Puma, 2016).. This document analyses the current condition of the pavement surface on the road Loja – Vilcabamba. It was developed through the use of some non destructive empiric methods such as the PCI and VIZIR. These methodologies consist of the virtual analysis of the pavement, where the damages on the ground layer are qualified and quantified by their type, severity and quantity, giving as a result a qualifying index of the condition of the road. As a result of an analysis performed, it was possible to conclude that the PCI is a better method of auscultation. Due to its total consideration of the existing deteriorations it is mainly recommended for short stretches. However, the VIZIR method is suggested for long stretches due to the low complexity on its application.
